The Nanticoke and Newport Township Fire Departments recently visited K.M. Smith Elementary School in the Greater Nanticoke Area School District. Students were shown a video on home fire drills and firefighter John Polifka discussed exit plans, smoke alarms, 911 and stop, drop and roll. Ember the fire dog also demonstrated stop, drop and roll. Students visited the Smokehouse, where they walked, crawled and climbed out of a simulated house fire.
