GLEN LYON: The parishioners of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church have compiled a cookbook titled, Recipes and Remembrances, which contains 300 of their favorite recipes. Cookbooks cost $10 each and can be mailed for an additional $4. Send requests to St. Nicholas Church, P.O. Box 62, Glen Lyon, PA 18617. Make checks payable to St. Nicholas Church.


SCRANTON: Tickets are available for the Little Sisters of the Poor's Mount Airy Casino Resort Weekend Getaway for Two raffle. The prize includes limousine service from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area on the weekend of your choice to Mount Airy on Friday and return on Sunday; Friday and Saturday night stay in a luxurious King Suite; $300 in slot play; admission to the VIP and any show in Gypsies; and dinner at Le Sorelle Cucina on Friday, Red Steakhouse on Saturday plus Betty's Diner and Sunday brunch.


Chances are $10 each or three for $25. The drawing will take place on New Year's Eve. Tickets can be purchased by calling Jackie Galvin, director of development and communications, Holy Family Residence, at 343-4065.


All proceeds will benefit the Little Sisters and their mission of serving the elderly poor.


WEST PITTSTON: The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Luzerne Avenue and Parke Street, has announced the following:


• The church's Christian Education Department will present the Christmas musical Gettin' Ready for the Miracle! at 7 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium. The musical will feature children, teens, and adults as they prepare for the annual church Christmas program. The event is open to the community free of charge.


• The Breaking Bread Soup Kitchen at the church has set hours for December. Meals will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. Monday and Dec. 17. There will be no meals on Dec. 24 or 31. Meals will resume on Jan. 7. The Christ Community Clothes Closet will be open from 5-6:30 p.m. Mondays; 3-5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays. The closet will be closed from Dec. 20 –Jan. 2 and will reopen on the regular December schedule. The closet will be closed for inclement weather according to the school closing schedule. Gently used clothing can be donated at any time by placing the items in the clothing shed in the church parking lot. Both of these services are offered to the public free of charge.
