The Shawnee Plymouth VFW Post 1425 recently held a drive to raise funds for the local Toys for Tots program. The post raised $2,012, matching the donation year. Clyde Peters, who initiated the campaign last year, and Commander Bob Palchanis and his wife Terri, Nancy Mentyka, George Hotaling and Bob Donahue and his wife Jamie purchased over 400 toys at the Plymouth Family Dollar. Representatives from the Marine Corps picked up the toys just before the holiday and presented the post with a certificate of appreciation. Some of the participants, from left: Terri Palchanis, president, Ladies Auxiliary; Peters, Bob Palchanis; and Corporal Potenziani and Sergeant Hummel, Marine Corps.
