The V.F.W. Post No. 4909 will hold its next meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4 at the post home. Commander Gary Carwardine will preside. The Home Association meeting will follow. Food and refreshments will be served.
The V.F.W. #4909 Auxiliary has changed it next meeting from Nov. 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at the post home. Auxiliary president Elaine Healey will preside. Hostesses for the meeting are Ruth Heine and Mary Janeski.

The Annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, Nov. 11 at the Dupont Municipal Memorial Lawn. This year’s event is sponsored by VFW Post 4909 with the cooperation of AMVETS Post 189 and American Legion Post 657. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Borough office will be closed on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5. The DPW department will be picking up leaves and ashes.
The regular monthly meeting of borough council is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. The second reading of the proposed 2014 budget is on the agenda.
The DPW department will collect ashes on Tuesdays. Yard waste pickup will stop as of, Friday, Nov. 15. The dump trucks will be set for winter road maintenance.
Residents are reminded of the snow ordinance. All sidewalks, both properties occupied and vacant need to be cleaned after a snow fall. The Childrens Christmas Party is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 21 from 1-3 p.m. at the VFW. Please register by calling the borough office at 570-655-6216 with child’s name and age. Refreshments, prizes and visit from Santa is planned.
AmVets Ladies Auxiliary Post 189 Apple Dumpling orders forms are available at the borough building or from any member. Orders are due by Sunday, Nov. 17 and delivery will be Monday, Nov. 25.
