Tunkhannock graduate Mike Papi had a hit, drove in a run and scored a run in each of his first two games as a professional.
Papi, a first-round pick out of the University of Virginia by the Cleveland Indians in this year’s Major League Baseball Draft, made his professional debut July 12 for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on the road against the Lowell Spinners. He served as the designated hitter in the New York-Penn League game, batting fifth and going 1-for-5.
In Monday’s 8-5 loss at Lowell, Papi made his first appearance in the field. He played right field and batted fourth. Papi finished 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Papi and the Scrappers will be in Williamsport Thursday, Friday and Saturday for 7:05 games.
