DALLAS: The Misericordia University Teacher Education Department is presenting a suicide awareness program on Wednesday in recognition of American Education Week.
Joseph V. DeLucca Jr., director of federal, state and non-public programs for Luzerne Intermediate Unit 18, will present, Preventing Suicide: It Starts with One, from 1-3:30 p.m. in the Huntzinger and Alden Trust Rooms 218-219 of Sandy and Marlene Insalaco Hall. The program is free and open to the public.
KINGSTON: The Wilkes-Barre Chapter 342, National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) will meet at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Black Diamond American Legion, 386 Wyoming Avenue.
The guest speaker will be Laura Pszeniczny, account executive for federal employees, Blue Cross/Blue Shield. All active and retired federal employees are welcome. Pizza and light refreshments will be served.
Reservations will be taken for the Christmas luncheon to be held on Dec. 11 at the Touch of Class. Cost is $20 per person.
PLAINS TWP.: AFSCME Retirees Sub-Chapter 8702 Luzerne County will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the PSEA regional northeast headquarters, 1188 Route 315, Fox Ridge Plaza, between Geisinger Medical Center and Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
All Pennsylvania retirees are invited to attend. Retirement concerns and questions will be discussed. This will be the last meeting of the year. There will be no meetings in January and February.
WILKES-BARRE: The St. David's Society of Wyoming Valley Inc. will meet at noon on Wednesday at the Genetti Hotel and Conference Center, East Market and South Washington streets, Wilkes-Barre. President Anthony T.P. Brooks will preside.
The Annual Banquet Committee will meet at 11:30 a.m. and a picture of the committee will be taken. Walter Griffith, controller of Luzerne County, will be the guest speaker.
