DALLAS: Daddow-Isaacs Inc. American Legion Post 672, Dallas, is holding its annual turkey raffle at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the post home, Memorial Highway. All proceeds will benefit the children's Christmas party. For information call 675-6542 or John M. Emil Sr., chairman, at 762-3184.


PLYMOUTH: The Friends of the Plymouth Historical Society are having a food sale during November. They are selling chicken pot pies, pasties, shepherd's pies and square-boxed pizza (12 cuts per box). Orders can be placed by signing up at the Dan Flood Community Center or by calling 825-7257 or 288-5194. Deadline for orders is noon on Dec. 5. Orders can be picked up from 3-6 p.m. on Dec. 14 at the Dan Flood Community Room, Main Street, Plymouth.


SCRANTON: The Calligrapher's Guild of Northeastern Pennsylvania will meet at 7:30 tonight at the Shields Center for Visual Arts, room 225, Marywood University. Joan Shugar will demonstrate how to connect a name and a special interest, such as a career, hobby or travel, by incorporating a design into the letters of the calligraphy. It can be done by hand, rubber stamps, found objects or other materials. Refreshments will be served and the event is free to the public. Call 296-6507 for details.


WILKES-BARRE TWP.: The Friends of the West Pittston Library are holding a book fair Dec. 7-9 at Barnes & Noble at the Arena Hub Plaza. Participants should mention that they are shopping for the West Pittston Library prior to payment of purchases. Gift wrapping will be provided on Dec. 8 at no charge with paid receipt. WYOMING: The Friends of the Wyoming Free Library recently launched a web-based store on Etsy.com. Handcrafted items, such as cat toys, sachets, pillows, pet coats and more, are for sale. Visit TheCraftyAnt store on Etsy.com. All proceeds benefit the Wyoming Free Library.


The library has started a new program, The Junior Friends of the Wyoming Free Library, for children in grades 3-6. The goal of the group is to provide children from Wyoming and West Wyoming the opportunity to become active volunteers at the library. Membership dues are $1 per year.


The first meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Future meetings will take place at noon on the second Saturday of each month. Snacks will be served. To sign up, call the library at 693-1364.
