SCRANTON: The Calligrapher's Guild of Northeastern Pennsylvania will meet at 7:30 tonight at the Shields Center for Visual Arts, room 225, Marywood University. Joan Shugar will demonstrate how to connect a name and a special interest, such as a career, hobby or travel, by incorporating a design into the letters of the calligraphy. The library has started a new program, The Junior Friends of the Wyoming Free Library, for children in grades 3-6. The goal of the group is to provide children from Wyoming and West Wyoming the opportunity to become active volunteers at the library. Membership dues are $1 per year.
The first meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Future meetings will take place at noon on the second Saturday of each month. Snacks will be served. To sign up, call the library at 693-1364.
