Meghna Melkote, Moosic, an eighth-grade student at Wyoming Seminary Lower School, survived nine rounds of competition to win the school’s annual spelling bee. Melkote, daughter of Shekhar Melkote and Dr. Bharati Eshwar, correctly spelled the word ‘pariah’ to claim first place. Runner-up was seventh-grader Kyle Hromisin, Dallas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hromisin. Cecilia Galante, eighth-grade English teacher, served as moderator, and Sukanya Roy, South Abington Township, a junior at Wyoming Seminary Upper School and the 2011 winner of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, was a guest judge.
