The skinny: Committed to Penn State in June, considered his options following the sanctions and took an official visit to Minnesota in October. Ultimately stuck with the Lions despite the departure of defensive coordinator Ted Roof, who had been his main contact. Roof had sought to create inroads into the South for the program, and he went very in-depth to hunt down Robinson, who played his senior year at a high school in a tiny town tucked away in Florida’s panhandle. He had a strong finish to his high school career, recording seven interceptions and scored a pair of defensive touchdowns. A visit last month from new defensive boss John Butler helped lock in Robinson’s spot for the Lions, who need to build depth in the secondary. Robinson is the program’s first commitment from Florida since offensive lineman John Wilson signed in 2001.
