Helen S. Piscorik, 102, formerly of East Newport Street, Newtown section of Hanover Township, passed away on Thursday at Golden Living-Summit, Wilkes-Barre.
She was born in Tuxedo, N.Y., on April 10, 1910. She was a daughter of the late John and Suzanne Yusko Mezanko.
She was the oldest living member of St. Leo’s/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley, and she was an active member of the former Holy Rosary Church Altar and Rosary Society.
She loved gardening and spent many hours tending to her garden and canning the vegetables she grew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Piscorik; daughter, Maryellen McDaniels; son, George Piscorik; granddaughter, Mary McDaniels; sisters, Anna Yarish, Julie Iskra, Mary Rentko; brothers, Michael, Peter, Steve, George and John Mezanko.
Surviving are daughter, Diane Drummond and her husband, Bob, Hazleton; son, Joseph Piscorik and his wife, Tina, Spring Brook Township; son-in-law, Joseph McDaniels, Laurel Run; nine grandchildren, Susan Mizzer, Joseph McDaniels, Lynne McCann, Michael Piscorik, Tracey Stephens, Bob Drummond, David Piscorik, Christy Kishel, Jill Payne; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Agnes Mezanko, New Jersey; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Leo’s/Holy Rosary Church, with the Rev. Thomas J. O’Malley officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Leo’s/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley.
