Liberty M. Libby Mital, age 83, formerly of Vine St., Plymouth, and Cornwall, N.Y., died on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, N.Y.

She was born in Yonkers, N.Y. on April 24, 1929, a daughter of the late Nunzio and Josephine (Dentrone) Cifarelli.

She was a member of the graduating Class of 1947, from Sewanhaka High School, Floral Park, N.Y. Liberty was employed as an administrative assistant for Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke, until her retirement in 1999. She was previously employed as a waitress for more than 20 years and worked for Kearney’s Restaurant, Top Hat and Mark II Family Restaurant.

She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church, Plymouth, and was also an active member of St. Aloysius Church Choir, Wilkes-Barre.

Libby, as she was affectionately known to her friends and family, was an avid reader and enjoyed cross stitching. She loved her family and friends and was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Preceding her in death was a sister, Angela Giustino.

Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Bernard Mital, at home; daughter, Dianne Yurko, and her husband, Joe, Washingtonville, N.Y.; sons, Mark Mital and his wife, Denise, Bellefonte, and Richard Mital, Naperville, Ill; eight grandchildren, Michael and Stephen Yurko; Jennifer, Gregory, Kayleigh , Julie, Bradley and Melissa Mital; sister, Betty Ridzon, Cumming, Ga; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. Mass of Christian Burial at10 a.m. from All Saints Parish/St. Mary’s Church, Willow St., Plymouth. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Lehman Twp. Friends may call on Friday from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m.
