UPDATED: The incident has been cleared. Traffic is moving normally, once more.

WILKES-BARRE TWP. – A tractor trailer crash on Interstate-81 northbound between the Nanticoke/Sugar Notch and Wilkes-Barre exits earlier Friday morning has caused major delays in the area.

A single lane is open on the northbound lane causing traffic to back up on the Interstate and state Route 29 approaching the northbound lane of the highway.

A tractor-trailer left the highway and slid down an embankment just before the Wilkes-Barre exit at about 4:30 a.m

Traffic is also heavy on state Route 309 and Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard in Wilkes-Barre Township, and Blackman Street in Wilkes-Barre due to motorists avoiding the congestion on Interstate-81.
