Robert Johns Sr., 77, of Pringle, and currently a resident of Hampton House, Hanover Township, died Saturday, Jan. 5, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Luzerne, he was the son of the late Leroy and Viola Johns. He was employed for several years at Baut Studio of Swoyersville as a master stained-glass craftsman, a craft he loved and often created items for his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rita Reilly; sons William, Alan and infant son, Brian; brothers Bill Johns, Edward Yanchunas; sisters, Emily Harris and Jean Conklin.

He is survived by sons Robert Johns Jr. and wife Nancy; Ronald Johns and wife Janet, both of Pringle; Eric Johns of Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Nancy Berry and husband Daniel of Pringle; Susan Jonovitch of West Nanticoke; Rita Doughton and husband William of Edwardsville; Pamela Nace and husband Joseph of Pringle; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and brother Leroy Johns of New Jersey.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with the Rev. Louis Falcone officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until time of service.

The family would like to thank everyone at the Hampton House for their kindness and care of Robert and also the staff at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital emergency room for their compassion and care.
