(AP) Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports is opening its new headquarters.

The headquarters at the Pico Mountain resort in Killington will make it easier for people in wheelchairs and others with special needs to ski, kayak, bike and do other outdoor activities.

Local media report that it’s opening Friday morning.

The non-profit founded in 1987 moved its offices to Pico in 1999. It plans year-round outings and has 500 volunteers to help out.

Donations and grants helped fund the $1.3 million headquarters.
