DALLAS: There will be an AARP driver safety refresher course at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 1 at the center. To qualify for the refresher course, the regular course must have been completed within the last 42 months. Pre-registration is required.

Course fee is $14 or $12 for AARP members. To register, call the volunteer department at 675-8600 ext. 195 or ext. 115. The class is limited to 30 participants.

EXETER: The Cosmopolitan Seniors will meet at 1 p.m. on April 16 in St. Anthony’s Center. The club is open to anyone 50 years of age or older. Meetings are at 1 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

A trip to Mount Airy Casino is scheduled for Wednesday. Pick ups in Exeter and Pittston. Call Johanna at 655-2720.

FALLS: The Falls Senior Center’s Wii bowling team competes with the Tunkhannock Senior Center’s team 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Monday at alternating sites.

There will be a drum circle with master drummer Al Cabral from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. This is a hands-on program.

Rose Brostoski, a local artist, will hold a free art class on using acrylic paint to paint spring flowers from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Monday. Reservations due by Friday.

There will be a quilt show and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 26 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 27. The public is invited.

JENKINS TOWNSHIP: The Jenkins Township Senior Citizens group will meet at 6:30 tonight at the Jenkins Township Hose Company. President Jean Mudlock will preside and dues will be collected. Refreshments will be served following bingo. Please note return to the regular meeting time.

PITTSTON: St. Joseph’s Senior Social Club will meet at 1 p.m. on April 18 in Mt. Carmel’s Center on William Street. Servers are Felicia and Sam Bellanco and Pat and Mike Boncheck.

There will be a taster’s party in May. Marion Licatais serving as chairperson.

Members are reminded to bring canned and non-perishable items for the food pantry.

PLYMOUTH: The Plymouth Shawnee Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, at the First Welsh Baptist Church, West Shawnee and Girard avenues. The executive board will meet at 12:30 p.m. President the Rev. Anita J. Ambrose will preside.

The guest speaker is Lt. Tressler from the Salvation Army.

Members are reminded to bring a sandwich. Beverage will be provided.

SCRANTON: The Marywood University Senior Learners are sponsoring the following spring bus tours:

Peter Nero and the Philadelphia Pops will hold a concert on April 28. Prior to the concert the group will have a grand Sunday brunch at the Waterworks Restaurant. Cost is $148.

Culinary Institute of America will host a lunch and a tour of Locust Grove on May 14. Cost is $95.

There will be a trip to the Allentown Museum of the Arts and Lehigh Valley Mall on June 6. Cost is $46.

SWOYERSVILLE: The Swoyersville Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. on April 17 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton social hall. Upcoming spring events will be discussed. Refreshments will be served and bingo played.

Winners of the 50-50 fundraiser at the last meeting were Eleanor Cheskiewicz, Mario Zucca and Catherine Pavlick.

WILKES-BARRE: The Charles T. Adams Active Adult Center and Charles T’s Café’, 5 E. Market St., is offering root beer floats at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The movie “Titanic” will be shown at 10 a.m. on Monday. Popcorn will be served.

A health, wellness and lunch fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 17. Reservations are due by noon on April 16.

An afternoon at the movies will be held at Movies 14 in Wilkes-Barre on April 18. Reservations are due by noon on April 17.

There will be a volunteer appreciation lunch and recognition day at noon on April 23.

The Elder Issues Coalition of Luzerne/Wyoming Counties will sponsor a workshop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 25 at the Genetti Hotel and Conference Center, Wilkes-Barre.

WILKES-BARRE: The UGI Retirees trip to see “Country Music Memories” at the Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Theater, Lake Wallenpaupack, is scheduled for April 17. The bus will leave at 9:30 a.m. from Pole U at Sears in the Wyoming Valley Mall.
