Emily Coburn and Ken Shields, both of York, Pa., together with their families, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Robert and Elaine Coburn, Wilkes-Barre. She is also the granddaughter of William and Irene Coburn and the late John and Genevieve Brady, all of Wilkes-Barre.
Emily graduated from Bishop Hoban High School in 2001 and is a 2005 graduate of Towson University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications. She is employed as a marketing coordinator by Meritain Health, an Aetna Company, Baltimore, Md.
The prospective groom is the son of Kathy Eberly and John Shields, York, Pa. He is the grandson of Betty Shields and the late Richard Shields Sr. and Sterling and Audrey Crone, all of York, Pa.
A 1998 graduate of Dallastown High School, he is also a 2000 graduate of the Baltimore County Police Academy. He is employed as a police officer by the Baltimore County Police Department. Ken is also the owner of TYCO Professional Security, LLC.
A wedding date has been set for Sept. 28, 2013, in York, Pa.
