(AP) Robert Stieglitz retained his minor WBO super middleweight title when his fight against Yuzo Kiyota was stopped in the 10th round with the Japanese challenger bleeding profusely from a cut in his left eye.

Stieglitz was awarded a points decision on Saturday after dominating the fight.

The judges scored it 99-90, 100-98 and 99-90 for the Russian-born German.

Kiyota fought for two rounds with the cut bleeding before the doctor stopped the bout.

Stieglitz used his jab and sharp right crosses to score nearly at will against Kiyota, who lacked the punching power to trouble the champion.

Stieglitz improved to 45-3. Kiyota dropped to 23-4, with one draw.
