Have you ever picked up a hairbrush or spoon and started singing into it? As silly as it sounds, belting out a song into a pretend microphone can be fun. Here is a way to make a toy microphone using simple household items.

Items needed:

  • An Unsharpened Pencil
  • Tinfoil
  • Tape
  • a few sheets of old newspaper
  • Optional: glitter glue, stickers, paint or anything that will stick to tinfoil to decorate it with.

Instructions:

  1. Cover the unsharpened pencil with some tinfoil and if needed, tape the ends just like you’re wrapping a present.
  2. Crumble some sheets of newspaper into a ball, then cover it with tinfoil. The tinfoil makes everything shiny like a real microphone.
  3. Push the covered pencil halfway into the tinfoil ball. Tape may be needed to keep it in place.
  4. If you’d like to decorate your microphone, use glitter glue, stickers or different kinds of nail polish to really make it special. Now you can play your favorite song and sing away.
