The Pennsylvania Municipal League’s Northeast District Meeting was held recently at The Open Space on South Main Street in Pittston.

In addition to Pittston officials, members attended from participating cities including Bloomsburg, Carbondale, East Stroudsburg, Nanticoke, Pottsville, Shamokin, Sunbury and Wilkes-Barre.

Members had a training session called “Understanding the Mobile Broadband Future: Closing the Technology Gap Among Your Residents” by Joseph Divis, the executive director of external Affairs for the Mid-Atlantic Region of AT&T. The presentation illustrated linkages of a robust wireless network to the availability of broadband internet across a community.

Attendees were then treated to a cocktain reception and dinner of beef tenderloin or potato-crusted salmon before the yearly district meeting. Carbondale was selected as the host city for 2015.
