Mary Boylan passed away Monday at age 80.

In her own quiet, dignified way, Mary was a pioneer of sorts, working at the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce from 1950, growing from a secretary to the executive vice president at the time of her retirement.

In that capacity, she was a powerful woman. But you would never know it by her demeanor.

In her spare time, Mary loved gardening, painting, arts and crafts, genealogy and, of all things, bowling.

She was quite a lady. And quite a role model.

We were fortunate to have known her.
