The Diocese of Scranton is sponsoring a special event to celebrate the contributions of Sisters, Brothers and Priests in religious communities.
The celebration will take place on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Marywood University. It will begin at 2 p.m. with a Mass in the Sette LaVerghetta Performing Arts Center celebrated by the Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Scranton. A reception with light refreshments will follow in the Latour Room of Nazareth Hall.
As the Catholic Church throughout the world continues to observe the Year of Faith, Bishop Bambera and the people of the Diocese wish to recognize and thank the many dedicated men and women religious and their associates who have contributed so much to the life and spirituality of northeastern and north central Pennsylvania.
Over the decades, members of religious communities have served as teachers, nurses, administrators, counselors, spiritual guides and leaders, social workers, retreat directors, parish staff members and friends.
All are welcome to come and thank these generous people in person. There is no cost to attend.
In order to plan for ample worship aids and refreshments, individuals or groups planning to attend are asked to indicate the number of guests by RSVP by September 5 to the Diocesan Office for Parish Life at (570) 207-2213 or [email protected]
