District 31 10-11

West Pittston 14,

Back Mountain American 6

F.J. Braccini, Memphis Metcalf, and Chase Yochem each had two hits as West Pittston beat Back Mountain American, 14-6, Thursday to force a championship game in District 31 10-11 baseball action.

It was the third win of the week for the locals. West Pittston and American played Saturday at 1 p.m., too late for press time.

John Angelella and Daniel Wiedl combined for seven strikeouts in Thursday’s win for West Pittston.

Todd Phillips led American with three hits. Will McCrum and Michael Starbuck had two apiece.

West Pittston 18,

Kingston/FF 8

Daniel Wiedl recorded three hits and Dominic DeLuca and F.J. Braccini added two hits apiece to thrust West Pittston into the championship game Tuesday.

Braccini and Derek Ambrosino combined for the win for West Pittston.

West Pittston 10,

Exeter 0

Daniel Wiedl and Dominic DeLuca allowed four hits and struck out nine as West Pittston shut out Exeter Saturday.

Jake Switzer went 3-for-3 for West Pittston, while John Angelella, F.J. Braccini, Memphis Metcalf and Chase Yochem each chipped in two hits apiece in the win.

District 31 Junior

Kingston/Forty Fort 10,

Greater Wyoming Area 6

In a game played Wednesday, Kingston/Forty Fort got three hits from Damian Davies to outslug Greater Wyoming Area.

GWA’s Max Reynolds collected three hits while Blaise Erzar added two.

Swoyersville 9,

Greater Wyoming Area 4

Jared Perdkis pitched six solid innings to lead Swoyersville to a win over Greater Wyoming Area.

Mitchell Forgash, Bryden Rukstalis, Dom Bayo, Dave Gavlick and Mike Pollick all had hits for Swoyersville.

District 16 Junior

Hanover 11,

Avoca/Dupont 10

Austin Gately was 3-for-3 with five RBI as Hanover advanced to the elimination bracket final Monday.

Sean Hart and Kevin Rimmer also provided hits for Hanover. Mike Piscotty was the winning pitcher.

Anthony Zimmerman was 3-for-4 with two triples for Avoca/Dupont. Aidan Jopling was 3-for-4. Austin Smithonic and Alex McAndrew were was 2-for-4, with Smithonic having a double.

Hanover/South W-B 14,

Duryea/Pittston Twp. 3

Kevin Rimmer threw a five-inning no-hitter for Hanover/South Wilkes-Barre.

Austin Gately had a triple and single. Joey Wheeler added two singles and Lloyd Deno doubled.

District 16 Senior

Nanticoke 5,

Avoca/Dupont/Pittston 0

Mike Bugonowicz struck out nine in four innings of work as Nanticoke earned the shutout win. Tyler Myers had two hits while Kyle Rosick, Mitch Romanowski and Bugonowicz each had one Thursday

Tyler McGarry went 2-for-3 in the loss.

Avoca/Dupont/Pittston 13

Duyea/Pittston Twp. 3

Ryan Hannon gave up just two hits and struck out seven to lead Avoca/Dupont/Pittston.

Tyler McGarry sparked the offense with a double, single and three RBIs. Jordan Rose added a double, single and two RBIs and Dave Pacovsky finished with a two-run double for the winners.

Kyle Ofier belted a double and had two RBIs for Duyea/Pittston Township.

District 31 Senior

Swoyersville 12,

Greater Wyoming Area 5

Larry Anderscavage had two singles, stole three bases and was the winning pitcher for Swoyersville. Jamie Lapidus added two hits, including a double, and drove in four runs.

Kevin Carroll had two singles for Greater Wyoming Area.
