The Wyoming Seminary Players will present three performances of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” Nov. 8 and 9 at 8 p.m., and Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. in the Buckingham Performing Arts Center, North Sprague Avenue, Kingston. The production is open to the public and tickets are $4 in advance or $5 at the door.

Opening at Broadway’s 46th Street Theater in October, 1961, “How to Succeed in Business” ran for 1,417 performances and received seven Tony Awards, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1962. With music by Frank Loesser, book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert and choreography by Bob Fosse, the Broadway hit starred Robert Morse and Rudy Vallee. A 1967 movie featured the Broadway stars, and a 2011 50th anniversary Tony Award-winning Broadway revival included Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette in the starring roles.

The show is based on a satirical book written by Shepherd Mead, which became a best seller in 1952. The musical introduces J. Pierrepont Finch of New York City, a young window washer who buys and reads the book and decides he will follow its advice. He lands a job in the mailroom of the World Wide Wicket Company, begins to rise through the corporate ranks and falls in love with a young secretary in the personnel department. The story moves briskly, propelled by hit tunes such as “A Secretary is not a Toy,” “I Believe in You” and “Brotherhood of Man.”

The production will include a variety of dance ensembles, choreographed by Sem choreographer/dance teacher Bernardine Vojtko.

Noah Sunday-Lefkowitz, a senior from Shavertown, plays Finch. Junior Emily Mackesy of Shavertown portrays Rosemary. Senior Gray Smith of Mountain Top is Mr. Biggley and junior Kaylee Slusser of Mocanaqua appears as Hedy LaRue.

This production is part of Sem’s 2013-2014 Performing Arts Series. For more information, call (570) 270-2192.
