Susan Monelli, 85, of Old Forge, died February 17, 2011, in the VNA Hospice Unit of Community Medical Center. She was the widow of Merle Besecker, who died on October 20, 1962, and Ezio “Lefty” Monelli, who died on January 19, 2004.
Born and raised in the Browntown section of Pittston, a daughter of the late Louis and Clara Marianelli Sebastianelli, she was a graduate of Pittston High School. She was a devoted homemaker and a parishioner of St. Lawrence Church, Old Forge.
She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Pat Ciali; a brother, Constantino “Bello” Sebastianelli; and two sisters, Emma Ridolfi and Alba Matteucci.
Surviving are two sons, Merle “Buddy” and Danny Besecker, both of Old Forge; two daughters, Darlene Pilosi, Old Forge, and Marlene Ciali, Exeter; a sister, Dolores Maranchik, Swoyersville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge, with Mass of Christian Burial and Committal Prayers at 10 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, 620 S. Main St., Old Forge. Interment Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
