William Walp, 85, of Wesley Village, Jenkins Twp., and formerly of Brooks Estates, Pittston, died March 19, 2009 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Twp.
Born June 25, 1923 in Edwardsville, the son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth J. Thomas Walp, he was educated in Edwardsville Public Schools. He was a veteran of World War II, serviced in the US Coast Guard in the US and European Theater in Antwerp, Belgium. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed by the Eastern Penn Supply Company, Harris Hardware and Supply, and Western Electric in New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia E. Swalina Walp, and his brother, Evan E.
He is survived by his nieces Marilyn and her husband Carl Cilvik; Constance and her husband Raymond Bozinko; Carolyn and her husband William Turinski; Claudia and her husband Russell Madden; nephew James and his wife Mary Ann Shahoney; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service was held March 21 from the Hughes & Son Funeral Home, Forty Fort. Interment, Forty Fort Cemetery.
