Lackawanna Trail Elementary Center students learned the meaning of protecting the environment, thanks to an educational mini-grant from the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority (LHVA). On April 22, two first grade classes went on a field trip to Penn State Worthington Scranton Campus in Dunmore to celebrate Earth Day. LTEC teachers, Mrs. DeNault and Mrs. Gray were awarded a grant from the LHVA. Due to this grant, they were able to take a trip to college at Penn State Worthington Scranton with the help of Dr. Rene Bishop-Pierce to participate in Earth Day projects. The LHVA has supported this project in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the National State Park Service. Shown are Dr. Rene Bishop-Pierce, Bryce Van Fleet and Ariana Drake at the event.
