Ruth Rau, 81, of Tunkhannock, died, March 29, 2008, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Springville on July 20, 1926, a daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Palmiter Weber.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Pittston Cigar Factory in Pittston. For several years, she was employed as a housekeeper for several families in the Tunkhannock area. She retired from the Procter and Gamble Plant, in Mehoopany, in 1993 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Wyoming County Senior Citizens, Wyoming County Red Hat Association and was a member of the Shadow Brook Ladies Tuesday Night Bowling league and the Morning Glories bowling league.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Rau; brother, Eugene Weber; sisters, Fannie Belet, Marjorie Weber, Mary E. VanAuken and Martha Allen.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Edward C. and Myrna Rau, of Burlington, NJ; Robert E. and Marcy Rau, of Mill City; daughters and sons-in-law, Eva and Bill Dieffenbach and Judy and Glen Werkheiser, both of Tunkhannock; brother, Sol Weber of Hamlin, Pa.; sisters, Dorothy Svitzer of Alexandria, VA; Jane Whitby of Maybrook, NY; Christine Weber, of New Egypt, NJ; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were April 1 from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., Tunkhannock. Interment, Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
