SUGAR NOTCH – A Wilkes-Barre man was charged on Friday in connection with a December robbery in Sugar Notch.
Johnny Anderson, 22, of Sambourne Street, sold jewelry at Valdez Buy and Sell, 502 Hazle St., Wilkes-Barre, according to Sugar Notch police. They allege that Anderson’s friend, Michael Zotte, had stolen the jewelry from 804-806 Main St., Sugar Notch. on Dec. 18.
Zotte told police he couldn’t sell the jewelry because he did not have a state identification card, police said.
Anderson was charged with receiving stolen property, a third-degree felony, and arraigned before District Judge Joseph Halesey in Hanover Township. Unable to post $5,000 bail, he was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in Wilkes-Barre.
HAZLETON – City police were dispatched to Bunkers Bar & Restaurant, 462 Poplar St., to investigate a report of two disorderly men who allegedly were spitting at a woman and causing a disturbance just before 2 a.m. Thursday.
As a result of an investigation, Charles E. Jackson Jr., 23, of Hazleton, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, police said.
Jackson was arraigned before District Judge Diana Malast in Plains Township and posted $10,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday before District Judge Joseph Zola in Hazleton.
SCRANTON – State police in Dunmore and the state Department of Corrections are looking for a woman who did not report to the Community Corrections Center at 240 Adams Ave. in Scranton on Tuesday.
The woman, Bobbi-Jo Gatto, 42, has been charged with escape, police said.
Gatto is described as 5-feet, 3-inches tall, 145 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes and a tattoo of a rose on her neck.
