NANTICOKE - Tentative funeral arrangements have been announced for Eric Williams, the federal prison guard killed by an inmate Monday, according to the Davis Dinelli Funeral home.

The viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nanticoke High School, 425 Kosciuszko Street. The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church on 520. S. Hanover St., Nanticoke.

Williams, 34, was fatally beaten and stabbed by an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution at Canaan in Waymart Monday night.

Williams' father, Donald Williams, said the family sought permission to hold the viewing at the high school to accommodate the large crowd that is expected to attend.

A memorial fund has also been set up in Williams honor by the American Federation of Government Employees Council of Prison Locals, the union that represents federal prison guards.

Those wishing to donate should send a check or money order made out to the Eric J. Williams Memorial Fund, c/o AFGE Local 3003, P.O. Box 578, Waymart, Pa. 18472.
