There was a time in my life that I thought about competing in the Wilkes-Barre Triathlon.
Well, maybe competing is a bit of a strong word, but 15 or so years ago I did consider giving the race a shot.
I was in pretty good shape back then, riding about 10,000 miles a year on bike and weighing in at a weight that had my mother convinced there was something wrong with me.
I never did give it a shot and I it would be difficult finding the time to just watch the race now, let alone train for it.
But on Monday night, I will get a feel for what I missed out on.
Local ironman Sean Robbins will discus triathlons and everything that goes along with them at 6 p.m. Monday at Sickler's in Exeter.
Robbins will talk about methodology behind training for triathlons as well as the dynamics of racing in one.
He has plenty of experience to draw upon, having raced the Ironman event in Hawaii numerous times and winning the Wilkes-Barre Triathlon twice.
If you're a triathlete, considering trying one or just a fan of the sport, it should be a night well spent.
And, according to Sicker's Phil Cable, you might just walk away with something more than a little knowledge.
Sicker's will be giving away prizes, includih a Giro bike helmet.
I will see you there.
The Giro d'Italia starts tomorrow with an 81-mile leg that will follow a circuit through downtown Naples.
It will be a day for the sprinters, which can mean only one thing — Mark Cavendish will be in the pink jersey at the end of the day.
Now, if I could only know who is going to win the Kentucky Derby with so much certainty, I would be in business.
Still both races will be fun to watch. Only one of them is going to cost me money, though.
If you curious, I'm going with Rick Pitino's Goldencents in the Derby.
