It’s the third series of the season and the RailRiders still can’t get through a series without losing a day due to rain.

For the fourth time already in 2014, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s game on Friday against Syracuse at PNC Field was rained out.

The teams will play a doubleheader today with the first game starting at 5:35 p.m. and the nightcap beginning approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

RailRiders’ righty Brian Gordon is set to make his second start of the season. He is 1-0 and has not yet allowed a run. He will be opposed by Chiefs’ right-hander Taylor Hill, who has the same numbers. Gordon threw in the second game of a doubleheader against the Chiefs last week pitching five scoreless innings only allowing one hit and one walk.

Hill pitched the first game of that doubleheader for Syracuse and went six shutout frames allowing just three hits.

Originally slated to pitch today was SWB right-hander Caleb Cotham (0-0, 7.71) and Syracuse RHP Blake Treinen (0-0, 0.00). Those two are expected to take the mound tonight as well, but starters for that game were not announced on Friday.

Friday’s rainout also meant losing a fireworks night and a schedule magnet giveaway. The fireworks display will be held tonight after the twinbill, while the schedule magnet will now be distributed prior to Sunday afternoon’s game, which is set for 1:05 p.m.
