EDWARDSVILLE — Police arrested Nanjee Jermaine Brown, 22, of North Empire Court, Sherman Hills, on charges he was in possession of pills without a prescription and marijuana on Tuesday.

Police said they stopped Brown for driving a vehicle with an open gasoline lid and a trunk that was not fully closed at Main and Short streets at about 6:30 p.m. A records check revealed Brown was wanted by a state constable.

Brown was placed in the rear seat of a cruiser where he allegedly discarded a bag containing 33 Percocet tablets and marijuana, according to the criminal complaint.

Brown was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge James Tupper in Kingston Township on two counts each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence, and one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and a vehicle code violation. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
