WILKES-BARRE — Police are investigating an alleged burglary of a residence on South Grant Street.

A contractor for a bank reported to police at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday that he arrived at the residence to find the digital lock was taken off the rear door. He then discovered that an unknown amount of copper pipe was alleegdly removed from the basement of the residence.

The man also alleged someone tried to remove pipe from the baseboard heading on the second floor, but only managed to damage it.

The estimated amount to replace the pipe is between $3,000 and $4,000.
