WILKES-BARRE —An intoxicated man found on Public Square was taken into police custody Thursday night.

Wilkes-Barre City Police found Kanishka Singh, 30, of Ames, Iowa, slumped over a bench at 11:23 p.m. Thursday.

Singh showed signs of being highly intoxicated with a strong odor of alcohol emitting from him, according to the police report. Singh was unable to stand on his own and had slurred speech.

Police officers took Singh into custody. He was held at Wilkes-Barre City Police Headquarters until he was sober.

Singh was released into the custody of a sober party, the report said.
