Computers reported stolen
WILKES-BARRE — Two computers were reported stolen from a city business.
About 10:30 a.m. April 26, the owner of a business on West Market Street reported that someone entered and took two computers worth an estimated $7,000, authorities say.
Property taken from WB business
WILKES-BARRE — Police say someone stole property from a business on Carey Avenue recently.
A report did not specify what was stolen, but the estimated value of the items is $740.
Police: Woman scratched man
WILKES-BARRE — A woman is facing harassment charges for allegedly scratching a man during a recent dispute.
Arissa Majer, 28, of Wilkes-Barre, caused the 34-year-old man to bleed, police say.

busted in Wilkes-Barre
WILKES-BARRE — A Florida man was allegedly found in possession of drugs.
Officers were dispatched to East Northampton Street on April 26 for a report of a man using heroin. They located Jeremy DeAngelo, 26, of Orlando, Fla., and say he was “clearly” under the influence of a controlled substance. DeAngelo was reportedly having trouble staying awake and was slurring his speech.
When DeAngelo was taken into custody, police said they found a hypodermic needle and a white packet with a powdery substance in his possession.

WILKES-BARRE — A traffic stop for a suspended registration led to a man facing charges for possessing a small amount of marijuana.
Police said Abdulaziz Asseri, 22, of Wilkes-Barre Township, was pulled over in the area of East Northampton Street at 11:15 p.m. May 2. During the stop, officers discovered Asseri was in possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, authorities report.
Asseri was charged with vehicle registration violations as well as having marijuana and paraphernalia.
Man charged with DUI
stemming from April crash
WILKES-BARRE —A man has been charged with DUI following an April crash.
Officers investigating a single-car accident in the area of North Pennsylvania Avenue at 11:29 p.m. April 11 determined that the driver, Juan Lopez, 26, of Wilkes-Barre, was intoxicated, court records show.
A police report did not provide specifics about how the crash happened.
Lopez had to be transported to a hospital for injuries, authorities note.
The report did not list his blood-alcohol level. The legal driving limit is .08 percent.
Two charged with public intoxication
WILKES-BARRE — Two men were recently arrested in the city for public intoxication.
Officers were dispatched to the area of East Northampton Street at 11:23 a.m. on April 11 for a report of two men passed out behind a building.
Upon arrival, they found Alfred Pennino, 34, of Wilkes-Barre, and Kevin Batista, 21, of Hazleton, slumped over and sitting on a curb, court papers say.
Officers said they could detect an odor of alcohol coming from both men, and neither could talk without slurred speech.
Pennino and Batista were arrested and taken to police headquarters.
Woman accused
of Target thefts
WILKES-BARRE TWP. — A woman is facing retail theft charges after she was recently caught stealing merchandise from Target, authorities say.
Becky Jo Weaver, 29, of Wilkes-Barre, was apprehended by store security for allegedly stealing $174 in merchandise.
She was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Zola, and her bail was set at $5,000 unsecured.
Man beaten, robbed
WILKES-BARRE — Police say a man was assaulted and robbed by two others late Sunday.
The victim, a 34-year-old, was walking on the sidewalk in the area of Lehigh Street at 11:41 p.m. when two men approached and began to assault him.
The men then took cash and a watch from the victim and fled the scene, according to police.
No injuries were reported.
Officers say they are now seeking two black males as suspects in the incident.
Vehicle shot at
on Cross Valley
HANOVER TWP. — Police say a vehicle on the South Cross Valley Expressway was shot at by a man in another vehicle over the weekend.
The victim was traveling northbound on the Cross Valley near Exit 2 about 9 p.m. Saturday when a white Chrysler 300, operated by a male, drove up behind him.
The suspect then passed the victim and shot at the victim’s vehicle, according to police. The victim’s vehicle was struck once in the rear driver’s side.
After the reported shooting, police said the suspect continuing traveling north on the South Cross Valley.
Tools taken
from business vehicle
WILKES-BARRE — Tools were reportedly stolen from a vehicle belonging to Aqua Leisure sometime over the weekend.
An employee of the store on Wilkes-Barre Boulevard reported the missing tools from one of the business’ vehicles at 10:35 a.m. Monday.
No other information was available.
