PITTSTON – Need a reason to get out of the house and forget that temperatures keep plummeting? Want to ditch the parka for a stylish outfit?

Well look no further than the Susquehanna Brewing Company. The brewing company has joined with Candy’s Place for its second annual Happy Hour fundraiser where beer and wine are guaranteed to be plentiful. The event takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 at the brewery on 675 South Main St.

“We are really happy to have Candy’s Place back for a great event,” said Mallory Nobile, marketing and community relations coordinator for the Susquehanna Brewing Company. “We had such a good turn out last year and they do such great things for the community. However we can can help them we will.”

Tickets can be purchased at Candy’s Place for $20 or at the door for $25. Customers will be able to sample current drafts and take a brewery tour which are included in the ticket price. Also included is wine tasting provided by the board of directors at Candy’s Place, hors d’oeuvres and entertainment. DJ Todd Prutzman will set the mood with music and magician Dave Jenkins will do magic tricks at the tables.

“This winter has been so cold and horrible that we just want to bring some fun the area,” said Chris Ostroski, director of Candy’s Place. “People can get out of their house and see friends they haven’t seen in a while. We also try to have it around St. Patrick’s Day to help kick off the holiday.”

Last year the fundraiser brought in nearly $2,500 which according to Melanie Socash, the communications representative for Candy’s Place, goes directly to the non-profit organization. “The money will help out programs such as our one-on-one personal trainer and the Wig Room and Boutique,” she said. “All our services are free to cancer patients while they are in treatment and one year after the last day of their treatment.”
