WILKES-BARRE – Kingston native Evan James will launch the inaugural issue of his new photography zine, Quarry, Nov. 27 at The Lamp Post in downtown Wilkes-Barre.

“I put it together from photos I’ve shot over the past five years,” James said. “It’s limited to 500 copies. I’m selling it online on my web store but the show on the 27th is going to be our official release for it. I’ve always wanted to publish something of my own. I looked at it as an opportunity to archive some of my favorite photos and experiences.”

James collaborated on the visual-heavy publication with Title Fight bassist Ned Russin, who contributed an article about the recording of the band’s latest album, “Hyperview.” James said he may ask others to contribute articles in the future, but the magazine’s future is planned as a yearly DIY photo zine.

“Every issue will focus on something,” James said. “Maybe a few things depending on how big it is. This one is just a 20-page booklet. It’s mostly photos, but it does feel like there’s room to write some stuff so I’m sure I’ll be collaborating with people. I like the visual aspect of it.”

James will also perform during the show along with keyboardist Alyssa Napora. The two play in the band Past Life, which plans to release their debut self-titled LP in late December.

Copies of Quarry will be on-hand Nov. 27 at The Lamp Post and are also available for $8 at quarry.limitedrun.com.
