WILKES-BARRE — Wyoming Valley native Andrew Krivak is the author of “The Sojourn,” a 2012 finalist for the National Book Award and the 2012 recipient of both the Chautauqua Prize and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize for Fiction.
Krivak will return to his birthplace to be the featured writer on March 22 at Wilkes-University as the English department hosts the Allan Hamilton Dickson Fund Spring Writers Series. Krivak will hold a workshop and Q&A session at 3 p.m. followed by a reading at 7 p.m. in the salon of Kirby Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.
“The Sojourn” is the story of a man who is confronted with a rigorous journey through the Italian Alps and the threat of enemy capture after he joins his brother as a sharpshooter in the Kaiser’s army during World War I. The book is inspired by Krivak’s family history.
Krivak is also the author of “A Long Retreat: In Search of a Religious Life,” which is about his time in the Jesuit order.
