SCRANTON — Piper Kerman, author of the memoir “Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison,” will speak at 7 p.m. July 19 at the Scranton Cultural Center, 420 N. Washington Ave., Scranton. The event is part of the Matthew F. Flynn Lackawanna County Library Lecture Series.

Tickets are free with a Lackawanna County Library card and can be obtained at lclshome.org or any Lackawanna County Library System location.

Kerman’s 2010 memoir chronicles time spent in federal prison on money laundering and drug trafficking charges. The memoir inspired an eponymous Netflix series, which has won four Emmy awards since its premiere in 2013.
