WILKES-BARRE — On Feb. 17, Wyoming Valley Art League will hold an opening reception for a new exhibit highlighting the world of Misericordia University Artist in Residence Skip Sensbach.

The bulk of pieces come from Sensbach’s “Glyphs” series, created in response to a loved one’s battle with dementia. Each piece is crafted to represent dementia’s attack on the brain’s ability to work with language and perception. The exhibition will also feature select large-scale installations.

The reception is from 5 to 8 p.m. at WVAL’s Circle Centre for the Arts, 130 S. Franklin St. The exhibit runs through March 30.

Skip Sesbach’s “Glyphs” series of sculptures was inspired by the way dementia attacks the human brain’s ability to understand language and perceive the world.
