If you’re looking for a meatless meal that someone else will cook for you, don’t worry. ‘Tis the season for churches and civic organizations to cook up everything from fried haddock to tortellini soup to pierogies packed with potatoes.

Some groups devote their energy to a once-and-done meal during Lent; others prepare several meals during the 40-day period that starts March 1, Ash Wednesday, and ends six weeks later with Easter.

Fish Dinner, 4-6 p.m., March 1, St. Andre Bessette Parish, Father Zolcinski Hall, Wilkes-Barre. $9, includes take outs. Tickets in advance. Call Mary, 570-823-4988.

Fish Fry, 5-8 p.m., Fridays during Lent, starting March 3, Knights of Columbus Assumpta Council, 59 Parry St., Luzerne. $10; children, $6. Take outs, $10 each.

Fish Frydays, 2-7 p.m., March 3 through April 7, The Good Shepherd Polish National Catholic Church, 269 E. Main St., Plymouth.
