WRIGHT TWP. — The Heath Center at Mountain Top has had a successful year, and now they’re thanking the community with a week-long celebration.

Events kicked off Monday with a focus on heart health, with blood pressure screenings and an Ask the Doctor Q&A and will continue through a PACE information program Friday afternoon.

According to Laura Herbener, the facility’s nurse practitioner, there will be days for young and old, with refreshments and cake throughout the week.

The Easter Bunny will visit on Wednesday.

“I’m looking forward to that,” Herbener said noting the facility did photographs with Santa in the winter and the turn-out was great.

Herbener said it was “daunting” for Lehigh Valley Health Network to come in to a new market last year, but it’s turned out to be a good move.

Connections made with neighboring Mountain Top health businesses will bring out a wide variety of people through Friday .

“There will diabetic counseling with Triangle Pharmacy and medication education with Weis Pharmacy,” Herbener said noting events that are planned.

One, which Herbener said is “extremely important,” especially in today’s day and age of smartphones, is the Let’s Talk About Stress Management seminar on Thursday.

“Stress effects your mood, blood pressure, weight,” she said. “It’s important to find ways to find time for ourselves.”

Sitting next to the Mountain Top Weis Market, the facility looks small to someone on the outside, but is rather “big,” Herbener said. Times Leader records indicate the facility is approximately 14,000 square feet in area.

Herbener works with Dr. Mark Radziewicz in the family practice portion of the Health Center.

“We see people from birth to 100-plus,” she said. “From playing with the babies to hearing the elderly people and their stories for days.”

In addition to the Radziewicz’s family space, there are also other hospital-based practices on-site, including an X-ray, lab, ultrasound and occupational, speech and physical therapies.

“It’s not exactly express care,” Herbener said, noting Radziewicz’s likeliness to do sutures or small procedures. Herbner, of White Haven, said the facility is a “one stop shop” for people in the Mountain Top area.

The center does accept walk-ins and there is a 24 to 48 hour window for sick visits, Herbener said.

Planning for the facility began in early 2015 with construction beginning in November 2015, Herbener, who has been with Lehigh Valley Health Network since 2003, recalled.

The center is part of the Lehigh Valley Health Network, based in Allentown, and is the network’s second non-hospital facility in the county.

To schedule an appointment, call Radziewicz’s office at 570-261-5000 or the LVHN central appointment line at 570-501-4LVH (4584).
