A mid-year report released by Pollstar, the concert tour industry’s primary trade publication, ranked the F.M. Kirby Center as No. 99 worldwide, based on ticket sales.

The publication put the Kirby Center’s ticket sales at 39,806 for the first half of the calendar year, the most the center has ever sold during any six-month period.

The report also showed the Kirby’s worthiness as a contender with other Pennsylvania theaters — only bested by Philadelphia’s Academy of Music, ranked No. 81; and Pittsburgh’s Stage AE, ranked No. 55.

This is the center’s second consecutive ranking in the Top-100 mid-year report, coming in at No. 99 halfway through 2016 as well, and finishing 2016 with a ranking of 109.

Will Beekman, executive director of the Kirby Center, said that the success came from a decision to “step outside of the box and be more aggressive within the market,” according to a press release.
