The New York Performing Arts Academy will hold an open casting call for singers and dancers in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The Aug. 27 auditions will be hosted by Barbizon NEPA, a local modeling and acting school located at 41 Oxford St. in Wilkes-Barre.

Those selected will perform at the World Trade Center in New York in a 9/11 tribute, and receive a President’s Volunteer Service Award, according to a press release from Barbizon.

The award is given to U.S. citizens or permanant residents who complete a certain number of volunteer service hours.

One performer will be rewarded a full scholarship to the academy in New York City, which offers programs in acting, vocal training, dance and image development, according to its website.
