Twenty members of the Pittston Area High School senior class recently visited Blue Sky at YMCA Camp Kresge, White Haven. Blue Sky is an outdoor, environmental, educational program made possible by donations from local businesses. The students met Kiel Eigen, 21, a life-long resident of Old Forge, who at the age of 14 broke his C5 vertebrae and injured his spinal cord during a high school football game. He was paralyzed from the waist down. Working as a marketing coordinator with Quantum Rehab, a power-chair solutions division of Pride Mobility Products, Exeter, Eigen now helps to develop products like his Q6 Edge wheelchair. The Q6 Edge allows him to enjoy the great outdoors and trips to places like Blue Sky. Pride Mobility, the sponsor of the event, is a leading designer and manufacturer of mobility products. Blue Sky at Camp Kresge is a Mericle Foundation Initiative. More than 2,000 Luzerne County students have participated in the program. Speaking to the students is Eigen.
