BERWICK: North Anthracite Council, League of Ukrainian Catholics (LUC), will conduct a general meeting and its annual picnic on Sunday, Aug. 16.

Moleben prayer service will begin at 3 p.m. at SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, 706 N. Warren St., followed by a business session. The agenda will focus on commemorating the 150th anniversary of Venerable Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky’s birth and the upcoming national convention Oct. 16-18 in Lansdale.

The annual picnic will take place after the meeting at the residence of Tim and Janina Everett. New and former members are welcome.

HARVEYS LAKE: First Friday Group Assumpta Council 3987 Knights of Columbus will attend the first Friday Mass at 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, at Our Lady of Victory Church. Rosary recitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. The Holy Hour is being held 8-9 a.m. Breakfast will be held at Skittlrs Restaurant, Harveys Lake. Reservations can be made with Bill Jones at 570-288-5791.

KINGSTON: The Kingston pool, Lathrop and Hamilton avenues, is hosting its fifth annual Family Fun Nite 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. There will be scuba diving, contests, food, music, raffles, games, swimming and a bounce house. Cost is $10 per person and $30 for a family of four or more. The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 2.

SWEET VALLEY: The Sweet Valley area Crime Watch picnic will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 11, at the pavilion of the Sweet Valley Church of Christ, 5439 Main Road.

A guest speaker from the District Attorney’s office will be at the 7 p.m. meeting. The event is free and open to the public.

WILKES-BARRE: The Christian Women of Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26, in the Marymount Parish Center, South Hancock Street.

Gina Aleo, a member of the parish and a lector, will be a guest speaker. She will give a presentation on the life of Thomas Jefferson, made personal by his wife Martha.

WILKES-BARRE: The Bishop William J. Hafey Fourth Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the St. Mary’s Byzantine Church, 695 N. Main Street. St. Mary’s Dormition Council 12325 will host. All fourth degree knights are asked to attend. Newly exemplified fourth degree knights are encouraged to attend to meet the officers and learn more about the group’s services. Light refreshments will be served after the meeting.

WYOMING: The First Presbyterian Church of West Pittston will worship at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary of the Wyoming Presbyterian Church, Wyoming Avenue and Institute Street. The Rev. James E. Thyren will preach.

The Wyoming Presbyterian Church, under the leadership of Pastor Laura Lewis, will continue to hold its worship at 11 a.m.
