Kirby Kidz, a children’s theater program, is presenting Disney’s ‘Aristocats Kids’ and Dreamwork’s ‘Shrek the Musical Junior’ at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 21-22, at the F. M. Kirby Center, Wilkes-Barre. Singers, dancers and actors from all across Northeastern Pennsylvania and New York City will be part of the productions. Kirby Kidz is a product of the outreach programs of the F.M. Kirby Center and the Harris Conservatory for the Arts. The productions mark the conclusion of a eight-week theater workshop held for regional children, which began the end of June and focused on acting technique, theater fundamentals, vocal performance, dance terminology and performance. Children ages five-10 will make up the cast of Disney’s ‘Aristocats Kids.’ Dreamwork’s ‘Shrek the Musical Junior’ will feature children ages 10-18. Theresa Kloeker will direct and choreograph both musicals and Doreen Ignatovich is the musical director. The productions are open to the public.Tickets are $16 in advance and $19 the days of the performances and are available at the Harris Conservatory for the Arts, Luzerne, and the Kirby Box Office. Children five and younger are free.
