All talented veterans receiving care at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center or VA outpatient clinics are encouraged to participate in the eighth annual local Creative Arts Competition to be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 1, at the VA Medical Center, 1111 East End Boulevard.

The local competition includes 50 art categories that range from oil painting to paint-by-number kits. There are also 120 categories pertaining to all aspects of music, dance, drama and creative writing.

The competition will be held in the recreation room where all first place category winners will have their art photographed or videotaped; then entered and judged against veterans from all over the nation. Some national winners will be invited to attend the National Creative Arts Festival to be held Oct. 10 to Oct. 16, 2016 in Jackson, Mississippi.
