Courtney Lynn Sawicki and Jeromy Robert Griffiths were united in marriage on May 24, 2014, in St. Aloysius Church at Robert Bellarmine Parish, Wilkes-Barre, by the Rev. Vincent Dang.

The bride is the daughter of MaryAnn and Lenny Sawicki, South Wilkes-Barre. She is the granddaughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Umlah and Leonard J. Sawicki Sr. and the late Barbara Fanucci Williams.

The groom is the son of Mary Ann Griffiths and Robert Griffiths, both of Wilkes-Barre. He is the grandson of the late Georgia Amos and John Nekrasz and the late Fredrick and Sophia Griffiths.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She chose her sister, Danielle Sawicki, as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Ashleigh Sawicki, sister of the bride; and Crystal Wah, Kelly Salmon, Kristin Haas, Alexa Yankosky, Kayla Richelmi and Suzanne Mattern, friends of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Emily Umlah, cousin of the bride. Flower girls were Chase Griffiths, daughter of the groom, and Natalie Umlah, cousin of the bride.

The groom chose his brother, Jesse Griffiths, as his best man. The groomsmen were Robert Toney, David Solomon, Robert Livingston, Ryan Bly, John Kocik, Daniel McGuire and Joseph Grabiec. Junior groomsman was Tyler Yankosky, friend of the bride.

Readings were given by Barbara Yankosky, friend of the bride; Stacey Emanuele, cousin of the bride; and Andrea Umlah, aunt of the bride. Gifts were presented by Ruth and Walter Polinski, aunt and uncle of the bride.

Following the ceremony, an evening cocktail hour and reception were held at the Fox Hill Country Club. A wedding rehearsal party was hosted by the father of the groom at CrisNics. A bridal shower was hosted by the mother of the bride and bridesmaids at The Gallery.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Meyers High School and a 2010 graduate of King’s College, with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She is employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.

The groom is a 1996 graduate of Meyers High School and is employed as a construction manager for Ericsson, Piscataway, New Jersey.

The couple spent a few days in Ocean City, Maryland, and honeymooned in Key West, Florida. They reside in South Wilkes-Barre with the groom’s daughter, Chase, as well as their two dogs, Clohe and Moe.
