Dean Alger and Shannon Lushefski were united in marriage on Sept. 5, 2015.

The bride is the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Lushefski of Nanticoke, the granddaughter of George and Rose Madl, Mary Lushefski and the late Joseph Lushefski Jr.

The groom is the son of Richard and Mary Alger of Gomer, Ohio.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, Joseph. She chose her sister, Carissa, as her maid-of-honor. Her bridesmaids included her two sisters, Kelcie and Keri along with her best friend Ashley Murtha. Serving as groomsmen were Mike Murtha, Cael Evans and Anthony Chianese. The groom chose his life-long friend, Stephanie Pierce, as grooms honor attendant.

The couple included a “sand ceremony,” along with a “rose ceremony” as part of their vows.

The bride was honored at a bridal shower given by her mother and maid-of-honor at Genetti Hotel and Conference Center in Wilkes-Barre. The groom’s mother honored Shannon with a bridal shower at Gomer United Church of Christ in Gomer, Ohio. A wedding rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at Theodora’s in Drums. An evening cocktail hour and reception were held at Sand Springs in Drums.

The bride is a 2008 graduate of Greater Nanticoke Area. She graduated from King’s College with a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2012 and received her Pharmacy Technician certificate at LCCC in 2013. She is currently employed at CVS/Caremark in Hanover Township.

The groom is a 1999 graduate of Elida High School in Elida, Ohio and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in welding engineering at The Ohio State University in 2005. He is employed as a welding inspector at Air Products on the Sana Souci Parkway.

The couple honeymooned in Negril, Jamaica. They reside in Mountain Top with their two cats, Hammy and Mattie.
